Polar RS400 Heart Rate Monitor Review

Suitable for the more advanced athlete the Polar RS400 heart rate monitor is packed with features. These features do come at a price of over $150, but this would not be uncommon for some of the more advanced types of HRM. The styling is very cool, but this does not come at the expense of using some functionality and ease of use. But it will take a little bit of time to get used to the interface and you learn how to fully utilize it.

There is a foot pod available at an extra cost, but it is very useful to indicate your speed when you are running. The Polar RS400 also has the ability to set speed targets before your training session and it will sound an alarm when you are in the target zone you set. This gives you huge flexibility when planning and executing your training.

This HRM comes with training planner software that you can install on your computer and use to track previous workouts and plan different intensity levels for upcoming ones. This really lets you work towards an optimum level of fitness which you will be able to achieve through a process of planning and focused training execution.

Polar rs400 heart rate monitorSmart Coaching is a set of features that are included on most of Polar’s range of HRMs, but it is particularly well equipped on this one. Two of the most useful features, for anyone looking to really start improving fitness levels, are Fitness Test and Running Index. The first one gives you a good indication of how your general fitness levels are improving over time, while the latter specifically shows you how your running performance is doing.

I would at this stage note though that the Amazon reviews are only mediocre with 2.9 stars from over 30 reviews. Compared to other heart rate monitors available you would probably find one with a much higher rating than the Polar RS400 Heart Rate Monitor.
